Jackson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William Samuel Teeters, a remarkable individual who lived a life filled with diverse experiences and unwavering passion. Born on December 30, 1936, in Chicago, IL, William peacefully departed from this world on August 7, 2024, in Jackson, TN.

William's journey through life was one of constant dedication to various professions. He made significant contributions as one of the male Registered Nurses, breaking boundaries and stereotypes along the way. Additionally, he found joy and fulfillment in his work as a skilled carpet installer and carpenter, building himself three different homes.

Education played a pivotal role in shaping William's career, as he obtained his nursing certificate from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rockfield, IL, laying a solid foundation for his future accomplishments.

Beyond his professional pursuits, William's interests were as diverse as they were numerous. He had a deep love for flying and building planes, finding solace in the freedom of the skies. His adventurous spirit also extended to riding motorcycles, exploring the countryside on horseback, and reveling in the serenity of trail riding.

Animals held a special place in William's heart, as he dedicated his time to breeding and showing dogs and cats, nurturing a deep bond with his furry companions. Bill had the first dog in the OSF therapy dog program and the team did many hospital visits together. His passion for model trains, a testament to his meticulous attention to detail, brought him joy as he crafted miniature worlds with precision and care.

A skilled marksman, William's affinity for gun and target shooting highlighted his precision and focus, mirroring his dedication to excellence in all his endeavors. His knack for restoration was evident in his projects, from reviving '66-'68 Mustangs to his most recent achievement, the restoration of a '79 Trans Am, showcasing his talent and commitment to craftsmanship.

An enthusiast of antique tractors and radio control airplanes, William found happiness in working with his hands, bringing life back to old treasures and exploring the skies with his aerial creations.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sherry Teeters; children, William Teeters (Mary), Kevin Teeters (Sharon), Laurie Teeters Kulesa (Jeff), and Benjamin Teeters (Andrea) along with Ben's mother, Audrey Teeters; brother, George Skubella (Bonnie); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Lee Dickens and William Teeters; first wife, Elaine Patricia Smith Teeters; daughter, Kristi Teeters; and sisters, Betty Lee Henning (Bill) and Barbara Sue Stynoski (Jay).

A memorial service to honor and celebrate William's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. Lonnie Sanders will be officiating.
