Dr. William R. Nance, Sr., 82, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General hospital.
Dr. Nance was born on January 21, 1932 in Ripley, MS, the son of the late John William Lenard and Lila Mae Wright Nance. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Memphis Technological High School in Memphis, TN and received his pharmacy degree from the U.T Center for Health Sciences in Memphis, TN. He was employed as a representative of Eli Lilly and Company for thirty-two years, where he was recognized with numerous awards during his tenure. After retirement from Eli Lilly he founded Express Save-On Drugs in Bolivar, which he operated for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, where he was active in the Cullen Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Nance of Jackson, TN; two sons, Dr. William R. Nance, Jr. and wife Vivian of Jackson, TN and Daniel C. Nance and wife Dawn of Medon, TN; two daughters, Mary E. Eyen and husband Dr. Tom of Kansas City, KS and Elaine Sadosky and husband Leonard of Lawrence, KS; a brother, Felix Reaves and wife Marsha of Ripley, TN; a sister, Mable Fields and husband Jerry of Memphis, TN and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Justin Wainscott officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
