Wells H. Kirby, Jr, age 85, died peacefully on July 25, 2020 at his home in Huntsville, TX.
Formerly of Jackson, TN, Wells was born on July 21, 1935, in Crockett Mills, TN the son of the late Wells Holman and Gladys Johnson Kirby. He was a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard serving as a Master Sergeant and employed in the Railroad industry, working for the GM&O, ICG and North-Fork Southern railroads. He was a former member of the North Jackson Church of Christ, where he was a deacon for many years as well as a member of the visitation team, the widow’s visitation team and a Sunday school teacher for the 5th and 6th grades. He was a former member of the Henderson Tennessee Civitan Club. He was an avid golfer having made four “Holes in One” during his golfing days. He enjoyed greatly his golfing buddies, Paul Norris, Guy Hopper and O.D. Johns.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Robbie Kirby of Huntsville, TX, his daughter, Janet Kirby Logan and husband Scott of Huntsville, TX and a son, Randal Kirby of Jackson, TN and a brother John Kirby and wife Dale of Henderson, TN; three grandchildren, Logan Kirby, Kinsey Dulaney and husband Jon and Kirby Logan and wife Taryn and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Tyler Kirby.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 31, 2020 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Josh Cook, Minister, Randy Hysmith and Allen Verell officiating. Burial will follow in the Chester County Memory Gardens in Henderson, TN, with David Powell, Minister officiating.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Glynn Carden, Charles Colley, Will Malone. George Cherry, Ray Poston and Logan Argo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Hayes, David Beach, Paul Norris, Wayne Jackson, Alan Highers, Allen Verell, Randy Hysmith, Gary Martin, Dwight Jones, Jared Jackson, Carrol Gilliland and Josh Cook
