Wayne Cathey, age 71, died at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital on April 11, 2016 after a long battle with lung disease. His wife of forty-six years Kay Blurton Cathey survives him.
Mr. Cathey was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Edmond Cathey of Jackson and grandparents, Alex and Mae Cathey and Finis and Ollie Dossett.
Wayne was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School and a 1966 graduate of Lambuth College. Wayne served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 82nd Airborne Division. He earned a Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.
Mr. Cathey was employed by Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Company for twenty-nine years and Argos Insurance for eight years. He was also co-owner with lifelong friend Cecil Cravens of Oldies But Goodies Consignment sales.
There will be a visitation at Arrington Funeral Directors on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. At Wayne’s request, no services will be held. He will be cremated and his ashes interred at Ridgecrest Cemetery at a later date.
