Walter R. M. Smith

Walter M. Smith, age 93, entered his heavenly home on December 15, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Munford, TN, Walter was born on April 2, 1928, the son of A. N. and Lola Holcomb Smith. He was married to Margaret “Amy” Smith for 64 years before her death in 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 3rd Armored Division. He was retired from S.C. Toof as a printing press operator. In his younger years he was a member of a family Quartet that performed across the area. Walter enjoyed working on cars, camping, and took great pride in his garden every year. He was a member of Potts Chapel United Methodist Church for many years and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his son, James Smith and wife Carla of Jackson, TN; his daughter, Carol Smith Cook of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren, Amy Cook, Melissa Malone (Tim), Dee Dee Miranda (Toby) and David Tate; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Michael Cook, granddaughter, Erin Webster, a great-great grandchild, and two brothers and one sister.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Paul Hare and Rev. Keith Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Bluff Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2021, at Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of West Tennessee, 1805 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305 or to Potts Chapel United Methodist Church, 3475 Beech Bluff Road, Jackson, TN 38305.
