Walter Clyde Hammer

Walter Clyde Hammer, affectionately known as Wally, was born on February 15, 1950, in Milan, Tennessee. He departed this life on January 18, 2025, at his residence, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Wally was a proud graduate of Atwood High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Union University, where he was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. His commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of his life. He worked for 20 years in Quality Control at Bendix, where his meticulous approach and reliability set a standard for his colleagues.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Wally was a valued member of the Elks and was known for his warm-hearted nature and community spirit. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including music, fishing, and photography, and was particularly noted for his exceptional skills as a carpenter. His creative pursuits brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him.

Being preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Beasley Hammer,

Wally is survived by his daughter, Ivy Page - Hancock (Trae), his sister, Linda Hammer Mathis (Eugene), and his grandson , Liam Sebastian Page – Hancock and sister-in-law Carrie Moffitt (Keith). Their fond memories of him will be cherished and celebrated as they carry his spirit forward.

He will be remembered not just for his professional achievements and community engagement, but also for the deep connections he fostered with family and friends. Walter Clyde Hammer will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

There will be a family gathering on Feb. 12, 2025 from 3-6PM at Wally’s residence 73 Hwy. 412 East, Jackson, TN. Friends are invited to attend.
