Wade Donelson ThomsonFuneral services for Wade Donelson Thomson, 88, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with Reverend John White officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.A native of Gainesville, FL, he was born on November 3, 1923, the son of the late Matt Neill and Rebecca Branch Thomson. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and received his bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, currently known as Tennessee Tech and his master?s degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Florida. He was married to the late Joanna McClellan Thomson who preceded him in August 1997. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as an officer during WW II. He was a member of the local V.F.W. Post 1848. Mr. Thomson was the founder and owner of Thomson and Thomson, Inc. and Construction Products, Inc. both of Jackson, TN. During his working career he has served as the Madison County Highway Engineer and was one of the founders of Tennesseans for Better Roads currently known as the County Services Association.He is survived by his children, Don Thomson and wife Kay, Matt Thomson and wife Christie and Howard Mac Thomson and wife Sherry all of Jackson, TN and Betsy Thomson Weaver and husband Frank of Hickory Valley, TN and Joanna Thomson Duke of Alamo, TN; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.He was preceded by a half-brother, Kenneth Thomson and a half-sister, Clementia Thomson House.Pallbearers will be his five grandsons, Matt Thomson, Jr., Branch Thomson, Will Duke, Wade Thomson III and Mac Weaver and long-time employee James Johnson.The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, 1573 N. Highland Ave. Jackson, TN 38301 or to the Hollywood Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 10007 Jackson, TN 38308-0100.The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.Arrington Funeral Directors 148 W.
