Torbjorn Solgaard

A memorial service for Toby Solgaard, 84, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Mr. Solgaard died at his Jackson residence on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.Toby was born on July 15, 1925, the son of the late Johannas and Agnes Sophia Brekke Solgaard in Asker, Norway. He received his engineering degree in Norway and was employed with Robin Technical in Danville, IL for twenty three years, was a Tech Director in Tonder, Denmark for five and a half years before moving to Hydro Aluminum in Rockledge, FL as plant manager, retiring in 1992. He became friends and business associates with people around the world.He is survived by his wife, Judy Brookbank Solgaard of Jackson, TN; two sons, Ivan Solgard and wife Lynda of Westville, IL and Norman Solgard and wife Bea of Fort Walton Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Frank Brookbank and his wife Tammy of Lafayette, IN; a step sister, Marcia Whitaker and husband Greg of Nashville, TN; a cousin Egil Fosslien and his wife Sylvia of Glen Ellyn, IL; five grandchildren, Jessica Solgard Pabst, Phillip Solgard, Eric Solgard, Alex Solgard and Casey Solgard and six great grandchildren.He was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Sandra Solgard; a sister, Synnova Gundersen and brother-in-law, Oyvind Gundersen.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 beginning at 9:30 AM until the service time at Arrington Funeral Directors.
