Thomas Lynn DavisFuneral Services for Thomas Lynn Davis, age 78 of Jackson, TN, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W. University Parkway, Jackson, TN with Ron Hale of West Jackson Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Tom went to be with his savior after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Jackson, TN.Tom was born on May 11, 1933, in Prescott, AR and grew up in Jonesboro, AR. He met Nancy Fox while attending Arkansas State University and following graduation, they married on December 18, 1955 and last celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They moved to Ft. Benning in Columbus, GA where Tom was stationed in the US Army as Lieutenant. Following service in the military and a job with Proctor and Gamble, Tom joined Golden Flake Snack Foods in Birmingham, AL where he spent 34 years serving the company. Tom retired in 1995 as Executive Vice President. During that time, Tom was an active member in Birmingham?s City Salesmen?s Club where he served as President. Tom was an active member of his church and enjoyed teaching and welcoming fellow churchgoers. He had a special love for missions and served on various missions committees. Upon moving to Jackson, Tom and Nancy joined West Jackson Baptist Church and have been very active members.Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren and Nancy, his lifelong companion. He enjoyed wildlife and daily fed the deer and waterfowl that graced his property. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster and poured his heart and knowledge into the young men that he helped support. Tom?s greatest love was his family.Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Lee Davis and Anna Lou Davis of Jonesboro, AR and recently by his brother, Samuel Lewis Davis of Adel, Iowa.Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy Fox Davis; son, Mike Davis (Lyn) of Jackson, TN; daughter, Donna Verna (Scott) of Ann Arbor, MI; three grandsons, Brad Davis (Beth), Taylor Verna, and Brandon Verna; two granddaughters, Amanda Verna, and Rebekah Davis Harrelson (John), and other extended family.The family will receive friends Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 12:30PM until service time at 2:00PM.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to West Jackson Baptist Church Missions Ministry, 580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
