Sherry Lynn Knight Raines

Sherry Lynn Knight Raines was born December 12, 1956 in Milan, Tennessee and made the transition to her heavenly home on November 25, 2020. She passed away due to complications after open heart surgery at Vanderbilt hospital. Her loving daughter and son-in-law were at her side.
Sherry was the daughter of Thomas Knight and Becky Butler Knight. She was the granddaughter of Claude and Donie Morris Butler and Stonewall and Adna McCorkle Knight.
Sherry was preceded in death by her grandson Thomas Beau Smith. She is survived by her daughter Jamie Raines Smith and husband JJ Smith, granddaughter Kayla Smith and great-granddaughters, LaMya Faith Smith and Braidyn Dolores Reigns Gilbert. She is also survived by two brothers, Tommy/Sandra Knight and Ricky/Sophia Knight, along with many nieces, nephews and special family members.
Sherry was a 1974 graduate of Milan high School and a 1984 graduate of West Tennessee business college earning a degree as a medical secretary. She hated being confined to a cubicle and changed careers to managing convenience stores and then to retail because she loved people and wanted to be busy. She worked at Walmart for a total of 12 years until she became disabled in 2010.
Sherry was a gifted crafter and loved to make jewelry and wreaths. She was an avid reader and would sometimes go through two books a day. She had a very happy, positive and loving personality. She loved to laugh and to fill those around her with laughter and truly had a heart of Gold and Glitter.
Sherry’s wishes were to be cremated.
SERVICES: All family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service on December 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.
