Sammy Wade Collins, 76, of Jackson, TN passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Medon, TN on June 2, 1937, the son of the late William David “W.D.” and Eva Seaton Collins. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for eight years. He was co-owner of 70 Wrecker Service for over forty years. He had a lifelong love of baseball, being an avid Braves fan and still enjoyed playing softball. His hobbies included collecting “Hot Wheel” cars and wood working. He also loved and enjoyed his family, as well as his morning coffee with friends.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Peggy Joyce Cupples Collins of Jackson, TN; two sons, Ricky Collins (Trudy) of Murfreesboro, TN and Mike Collins (Shawna) of Cookeville, TN; four grandchildren, Brooke Travis (Danny), Blair Akers (Chuck), Wade Collins and Craig Collins; four great-grandchildren, Layne Akers, Nori Akers, Jet Travis and Collins Caroline Travis.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Jerry Drace officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Friday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Mike McCarty, Danny Williams, Cody Clark, Craig Collins, Wade Collins and Ed Hare.
