Sallie M. Clay, age 95, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Jackson Madison General Hospital after a brief illness with Pneumonia.
She was born in Madison County, TN on September 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Duke Murren. She married Joseph Edward Clay on October 24, 1942, and they were married for 34 years until his death in 1976. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson. Sallie was a retired retail sales representative working with the former Kisber’s Department Store and Sam’s Club. She enjoyed traveling extensively and visiting and dining with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Camp and husband Jack of Jackson, TN; step granddaughter, Christy Sallee and husband Brian of Nashville, TN; a step grandson, Jack Camp, Jr. and wife Tracy of Medina and two great grandchildren Sara Kate Camp and Taylor Camp and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by siblings, Lonnie Murren, Robert “Bob” Murren, Joe “Sonny” Murren, William “Poodle” Murren, Ernest “Bill” Murren and Delia Cook.
