Shellabarger, 36, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Poplar Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Murphy and Rev. Doug Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in West Madison County. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.Dr. Shellabarger was born on November 15, 1973, the son of Johnny and Mary Jane Rushing Shellabarger. He was a member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church of Jackson. He was currently a physician with The Jackson Clinic Family Medicine. He was previously a Locum Tenems Physician with the Jackson Clinic Convenient Care. He received a Bachelor of Science, Major in Biology from University of Mississippi in May 1997 and a Bachelor of Science, Major in Chemistry from Union University in May of 2000. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN in May 2004 completing his General Surgery Internship in June 2005 and Family Medicine Residency in March 2008. He held a Tennessee Medical License and was Board Certified in Family Medicine. He was the recipient of the Resident of the Year award in June 2008 and the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award with Commendation. His professional memberships included the American Medical Association, the Tennessee Medical Association serving as a member of the House of Delegates at the 2008 annual meeting, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians serving as Forked Deer Chapter President and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative medicine. Dr. Shellabarger also served at the Medical Director for Tennessee Quality Home Care and Hospice and Volunteer Home Health.He is survived by his parents, Johnny and Mary Jane Shellabarger of Jackson, TN; a brother, Sam Shellabager and wife Monica of Franklin, TN and a nephew, Grant Shellabarger of Franklin, TN.Pallbearers to serve will be Don Gilliam., Steve Tritt, Dale Rogers, Mark Hoppe, Russell DeLoach, Morgan Ennis, Dr. Jimmy Moss, Dr. Brent Hatcher, Dr. Aron Chary and Shawn McDowell.The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the Indigent Care Endowment Fund of West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, 620 Skyline Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.Arrington Funeral Directors148 W.
