Royce Roland Smith, 76, died on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Royce was born in Half Moon, Arkansas on July 4, 1937, the son of the late Roy Joseph and Addie Branscum Smith. He served in the United States Marine Corp as an MP. He owned and operated R & R True Value Hardware for over twenty years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Jackson. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple of Memphis. He was a former Golden Glove boxer. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards. He had a great love for all his family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Norma Smith of Jackson, TN; two sons, Steve Smith (Erin) of Jackson, TN and Mark Smith (Kim) of Lexington, TN; two daughters, Sherry Clifton of Cleveland and Denise Smith (Rhonda) of Mercer, TN; eleven grandchildren, Lindsay Manley (Jeff), Chelsea Bergeron (Blake), Morgan Smith, Cody Smith (Brynn), Griffin Smith, Clayton Smith (Amanda), Amber Azbill (Lance), Willie Smith (Stephanie), Joshua Clifton, Olivia Clifton and Drake Waldo-Smith and fifteen great grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Willie Smith, Cody Smith, Griffin Smith, Clayton Smith, Joshua Clifton, Lance Azbill, Jeff Manley and Blake Bergeron.
Memorials should be directed to the Therapy and Learning Center 32 Garland Drive, Jackson, TN 38305 in honor of Drake Waldo-Smith.
