Ronnie Moody, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 9, 2023, in his hometown of Jackson, TN after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 8, 1950, to the late Joseph Moody and Gladys Moody.
Ronnie dedicated many years of his life working as a maintenance man at St. Mary's Manor. His commitment to his job and the residents served as a testament to his compassionate and caring nature. In his youth, Ronnie proudly served in the U.S. Navy, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. His military service shaped him into the strong-willed individual he became.
Aside from his professional life, Ronnie had a variety of interests and hobbies that enriched his life. He was a member of Victory Worship Center, finding solace and comfort in his faith. Ronnie also had a passion for collecting rare coins and watches; each piece held a unique story that he cherished dearly. Additionally, he found joy in books and could often be found immersed in the pages of a novel. Above all, he cherished his time with his loving family. Ronnie's warm smile and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Darlene Moody, who stood alongside him through thick and thin. Their bond was unwavering, built on love, trust, and shared experiences. Ronnie also leaves behind his daughter, Cheryl Stewart (Tony); brother, Joey Moody, Rickey Finch, & Van Finch; sisters, Rhonda Sweat, Cathy Mayfield, and Pam Young; grandchildren, Jessica Cox (Ben), TJ Stewart (Kayla), Logan Stewart (Madyson Jaynes), and Kendyll Stewart; great-grandchildren, Addison Gastelum, Rylee Gastelum, Laci Kate Gastelum, Staley Stewart; second mother and cherished friend, Charlene Walker; and another special friend, Peggy Primeaux.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Quentin Finch, Rodney Moody, and Owen Finch, Jr; and sisters, Lynn West and Debbie Finch.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Pastor J.P. Stovall and Tony Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, and also 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers to serve are Ben Cox, Jason Creasy, Louis Jordan, John Reasons, Logan Stewart, and Tony Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ronnie's name to the Kirkland Cancer Center at 720 W. Forest Avenue, Jackson, TN 38301.
Ronnie Moody's life was one filled with compassion, dedication, and love for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that his memory lives on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
