Roddy Haggard, age 80, passed away at Northbrooke Healthcare on Friday, November 18, 2021. Roddy was born on August 23, 1941 to Noel and Sue Neville Haggard in Memphis, TN. When Roddy was three years old, his family moved to Jackson. He attended Jackson City Schools, graduating from Jackson High School in 1959. He attended Union University for two years and Memphis Technical Institute for one year. Roddy worked at Southwest Electric and Western Electric before going to work at Jackson Utility Division (JEA) for 37 years, retiring in 2000. He worked with customers and contractors during the building boom and much of the layout of electrical lines and subdivisions throughout the city were carried out by him. This was a job he truly enjoyed.
Roddy volunteered for the American Red Cross for 20 years and was a a Special Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years. He and Trish attended Calvary Baptist Church and he served in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Trish Gaither Haggard of Jackson, TN and one son, Brian (Michelle) Haggard of Jackson, TN.
SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Bro. Gary Snuffin officiating. Mr. Haggard will be cremated by Arrington Crematory.
