Robert Ernest Thomas

Robert Ernest Thomas, 86, died Saturday morning September 26, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born March 26, 1929 in Jackson, TN the son of the late Martha Matthews and Guy Thomas. He retired from TVA with 41 years of service working as an Associate Engineer and was honored with Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church after serving in many capacities including chairman of the deacons. He was an avid golfer with the West TN Seniors, a member of HGCC since 1970, and had four hole in ones.
Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geraldine Thomas of Jackson, TN, two daughters, Jan T. Watson, Jill Thomas, both of Jackson, TN, one granddaughter, Rachel Smith-Watson of Lakewood, CA, one brother Rayford Thomas and one sister Betty Arsenault. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dr. James L. Thomas and Jere Thomas.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00PM until the time of the service at 2:00PM.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to First Baptist Church, 1627 N. Highland Ave., Jackson, TN 38301.
