Robert Paul Stovall Jr.

Robert “Paul” Stovall, Jr. died Monday, September 5, 2022, at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN, at the age of 82.
He was born May 4, 1940, in Memphis, TN, to the late Robert Paul Stovall, Sr. and Hortense Rainey Stovall. Paul received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Memphis State University.
Paul joined the Navy when he was 18 years old and was assigned to the USS Ernest G. Small in Long Beach, CA. While serving our nation he operated radios, teletypewriters and voice radio equipment, also decoding Morse Code. It was there he met his lifetime friend, Don Topping of St. Louis, MO.
Upon discharge he went to work for Rockwell International and worked at space program at the test site in Bay St. Louis, MS on the Saturn2 Stage 2 Rocket. Wanting to get closer to home, he went to George Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Al. While there, he was awarded dedicated service awards for the nation’s capabilities in aeronautics and space for the Apollo’s successful achievement of man’s first moon landing July 20, 1969. He later worked and retired from Burroughs/Unisys Corporation in computer sales.
Other than his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two sons, Robert “Rob” Stovall, III and Michael Eric Stovall.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Joyce Stovall of Beech Bluff, TN; son, Daniel Stovall of Seattle, WA, step-sons, Roger Mainord, Jr. and wife Karen of Beech Bluff, TN, Steve Strader of Tunica, MS, and Michael Strader of Milan, TN; one step-daughter, Beth Strader Waller of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Michael Stovall of Jackson, TN, Kelcey Amaya of Selmer, TN, Destiny Stovall of FL, and Trey Mainord of Jackson, TN; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Amaya, Nathan Amaya, Leo Amaya, Myles Amaya, Chloe Chambers and Stanley Chambers; sister, Lindor Flourney Signoff of Nesbitt, MS; aunt, Letha Brannon of South Haven, MS, and nephews, Chris Flourney and Greg Flourney, both of Nesbitt, MS.
SERVICE: Paul’s Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Barry Scott officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at TN Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads. The family will be receiving friends at Arrington Funeral Directors from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at noon.
Pallbearers serving are Michael Stovall, Trey Mainord, Steve Strader, Steve Smith, Jacob Exlune and Roger Mainord.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Deming Veterinary Barn Cat Rescue, 2173 Hwy 70 E., Jackson, TN 38305.
