Robert Rainwater

Funeral services for Robert A. Rainwater, 90, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 23, 2012 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Ronald Brown, Rev. Donald Lance, Rev. David Hill and Rev. Harold Jaco officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Mr. Rainwater died on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Forest Cove Nursing Home.A native of Waverly, TN he was the son of the late Guy A. and Bessie Jane Cragg Rainwater. He was a veteran of the United Stated Army during World War II proudly serving in the European Theater and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was later employed by the State of Tennessee Highway Department until his retirement at the age of 62. He was a faithful member of Bemis Pentecostal Church and later Lighthouse Pentecostal Church serving as an usher for many years. After his retirement he enjoyed hunting, golf, gardening and fishing for twenty six years until his health declined.He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Frances Marie Stepp Rainwater of Jackson, TN; four daughters, Linda Vantreese of Jackson, TN, Janie Ross of Knoxville, TN, Robbie Mathes of Jackson, TN and Suzanne Perkins and husband John of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Jonathan Ross and wife Brena, Jenny Ross Shaughnessy and husband Ryan, Angela Ingram, John-Michael Perkins and Tyler Perkins and three great grandchildren, Abbigail Ingram, Grayson Shaughnessy and Michael Jack Shaughnessy.He was preceded in death a brother, J.P. Rainwater and two sisters, Geneva Rainwater and Naomi Rainwater Bratcher.The family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
