Robert H. McCarty Jr.Funeral services for Robert McCarty Jr., 90, will be held 10 A.M. Thursday April 1, 2010 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Brian Giselbach officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, TN at 2:00 P.M.Mr. McCarty died Sunday March 28, 2010 at Forest Cove Nursing Home. He was born February 2, 1920 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Robert H. McCarty Sr. and Mary Covington McCarty.Mr. McCarty grew up in Memphis and attended Humes High School and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Architecture. He worked as an Architect in Memphis until 1970 and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service from 1970 until 1985. He was a veteran of WWII, served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, he was an avid woodworker and loved astronomy and boating.He is survived by his Son Glenn McCarty and wife Elaine of Jackson; a daughter Mary Martha McCarty Wilson and husband Gene of Eloy, AZ; a daughter Susan Scott Bedford of Oakland, CA; three grandchildren Kelly Wilson, Kevin McCarty and Jaime Wilson; two great grandchildren Elly and Jack McCarty.Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by wife Helen Ingram McCarty, wife Mildred Scott McCarty and a brother Walter Francis McCartyArrington Funeral Directors148 W.
