Robert Lee Daniel, 74, died on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN after a brief illness.
A native of Jackson-Madison County, He was born on December 8, 1939, the son of the late Luther and Pearl Gurley Daniel. Robert worked with his father for several years at Daniel Auto Clinic before going to McCowat-Mercer of Jackson as a machine operator, where he retired with 29 years of employment. He was a lifetime member of Wards Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Adult II Sunday school class. His church was special to him and enjoyed being with his church family. He enjoyed making trips with his family especially his grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Pops”. He was a member of the Golden Circle Knife Club and an associate member of the FOP. He served six years in the Tennessee National Guard. He enjoyed fishing and spending many hours on his golf cart.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Hendrix Daniel of Jackson, TN; a son, Jeff Daniel and wife Mary Beth of Medina, TN; a daughter, Kelli Daniel Beiter and husband Randy of Jackson, TN; three grandchildren, Chase and Anna Daniel of Medina, TN and Bryan Beiter of Jackson, TN; mother in law, Kathleen Hendrix of Jackson, TN; sister in law, Bettye Burruss and Glinda Sims; four nieces, Vickie Whittington, Kim VanWinkle, Kim Hall, Kasey Houston and a nephew, Tim Burruss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law, M.B. Hendrix, his brother, Johnnie Daniel and wife Jo Ann and a brother in law, Harold Burruss.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Matt Tomlin and Rev Ken Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery in Henderson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Barry Daniel, Jimmy Daniel, Tim Burruss, George Hall, Scott Houston, Jerry Holt, David Whittington and David Kiestler.
