Robert F. “Bob” Campbell, Jr. 66, died Thursday afternoon September 8, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Shiloh, TN December 1, 1949, the son of the late, Robert F. Campbell, Sr. and Nell Vinson Campbell.
He graduated from Union University and remained loyal and committed for many years, serving on numerous committees, also served as a Trustee for two terms. Bob was very instrumental in the 2008 tornado recovery efforts and the rebuilding of the campus and the emotions.
He was Vice President of Marketing for Valvoline Oil Company, founder of Panther Oil Company in Jackson, TN and an avid Harley motorcycle rider.
Bob was active with The Star Center for many years, eventually becoming a staff member and was a long time Sunday School teacher for the children’s ministry at West Jackson Baptist Church. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Jackson Energy Authority. He was a pilot for the US Navy.
He is survived by two daughters, Allie Michael and husband Darren of Clarksville, TN, Sarah Creel and husband Nathan of Gainesville, GA, two sisters Rose Busby of Henderson, TN, Ann Senseman of Jackson, TN, two grandchildren Matilda Michael and Ethan Creel.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00AM at West Jackson Baptist Church. A committal service will be held at 2:00PM in Enville Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 2:00PM – 4:00PM at the funeral home.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Randy Campbell, Jim Bingham, Rick Bonds, Ricky Lunsford, Randy Phillips and Jerry Durbin. Honorary pallbearers will be Reese, Nicky Bridges, Bob Arrington and Tom Latham.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Bob Campbell Scholarship Fund, Union University, 1050 Union University Dr., Jackson, TN 38305.
