R. D. “Bill” Pipkin, age 83, died peacefully on October 5,2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Bill was born in Jackson-Madison County on December 8, 1937, the son of the late J. B and Maurine Doss Pipkin. In his early years Bill loved flying airplanes and showing antique trucks and in his later years he loved working in his shop, taking care of his yard, as well as helping his neighbors with their yards. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and always enjoyed playing with them. He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard and was retired from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department with twenty-five years of service. He was a member of Northside Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Faye Maness, who he married on November 24, 1971; two bonus children, Jeffery Lynn Cox and wife Ann of Selmer, TN and Tammy Theresa Hardee (David-deceased) of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Brandon Cox (Lisa), Brian Weir (Danielle), Heather Williams, Erin Craig (Chad), and Laura Beth Hardee; ten great grandchildren, Paxton Weir, Gage Weir, Ansley Roberts (Logan), Katie Craig, Carter Craig, Shelby Robertson, Aidan Robertson, Johnathan Cox (Joyce), Nathan Cox, and Blake Cox; one great-great grandchild, Mason Cox; three sisters, Sue Suddeath (Tom-deceased) Amelia “Renie” Sipes (Gene-deceased), and Jackie Randan (Carl); and numerous nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 8, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Dr. Kevin Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Brian Weir, Paxton Weir, Brandon Cox, Johnathan Cox, Joey Coley and Larry Sipes.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Women of Hope Recovery Center, 1925 TN-18, Medon, TN 38356.
