Philip Said Hakeem
Philip Said Hakeem, age 92, passed away December 1, 2013. He was born November 29, 1921 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Preceded in death by parents Said Monsour Hakeem and Azizi Hakeem, first wife Birdie Louetta Hakeem, brothers Elias Hakeem and Edward Hakeem, and sister Lateefie Pedro.
Survived by his wife of over 21 years, Sara S. Hakeem; daughter Phyllis Regina Reavis; grandson Brett Reavis; brother Harry Hakeem; step children, Warner (Marilyn) Hassell, Tom (Ruthie) Hassell, and Sara Ellen (Jim) Beery. Step-Grandchildren, Rebecca (Patrick) Newsom, Meredith (Jourdan) Causseaux, Stephen Hassell, Sara Hassell, Jeremy Gesser, Leslie Brunet, Whitney (Kevin) Voisin and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He proudly served his country for over 30 years in the U.S. Navy which included service in World War II and the Korean War. He later served several years as a building material salesman for Central Woodwork and several years at Jackson-Madison County Hospital.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church-Franklin, TN., VFW Post #1848-Jackson, TN, Al Chymia Shrine Temple Memphis, TN, and 50+ year member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #45 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Gardening was a life long hobby and he was also an avid University of Tennessee sports fan.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 10 am to 11 am with service to follow at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, TN. Burial will be at Palmer’s Shelter, 3660 Purdy Rd. Huntingdon, TN. A Memorial Service will be 2 pm. Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church, Franklin, TN.
