Opal Ray Pyles, 90, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Tennessee State Veterans Home-Humboldt, TN; where she received excellent care for the past three years. Opal, a native of Milan, TN was born on February 24, 1930, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson (Tom) and Tola Ann Oatsvall Stokes. She was a retired accountant from United Foods, Inc. (Bells, TN). She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 12 where she served nine times as Unit President, four times as District 8 President, and three times as West Tennessee Divisional President. She received the District 8 Outstanding President Award and the Irene Jackson Award for outstanding Divisional President. She was also a member of the VFW Post # 1848 Auxiliary. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
She is survived by children, Jim Blankenship (Shannon) of Jackson, TN; Sherry Hinson of Jackson, TN; and Roger Pyles of Kingston Springs, TN; three grandchildren, Keith Blankenship (Amanda), Jeremy Hinson (Rachel), and Jennifer Hinson Baker (Christopher); great-granddaughter Davie Ann Baker; step-grandsons Tyler Cass, Taylor Cass, Tanner Cass; step-great-granddaughters Audi Lifsey and Bailee McCormick; step-great grandson Tristen Starbuck; nieces Yvonne Crider, Jean White, Lajuan Sparrowhawk, Gail Pugh, Ann Holloway; great-nephew Bill Harrington (Brenda).
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Nina Maria Stokes, Guyneth Killen Cash, and Mary Nell Pugh, and niece Helen Harrington.
Pallbearers to serve are Keith Blankenship, Jeremy Hinson, Christopher Baker, Taylor Cass, Tanner Cass, and Tristen Starbuck.
