Norma Jean Langston Warren, 77, passed away peacefully on October 5 in
Meridian, Mississippi with family at her side.
Norma was born on June 17, 1935 in Newport, Arkansas. She was the eighth of
nine children born to George Frank and Clara Elizabeth Langston of Newport.
Mrs. Warren attended Newport High School where she excelled in basketball
and was named All State guard.
She was married in 1953 to Leslie Warner Marchand of Stuttgart, Arkansas
and widowed in 1960. In 1966, she married Jack Walton Warren of Pontotoc,
Mississippi and was widowed again in 1990. She lived in Jackson, Tennessee
from 1968 until 2012. She worked for many years at the Old Country Store
where she enjoyed meeting travelers from all over the world. During her
lifetime, she excelled at bowling, baking and solving crossword puzzles. She
was a loving and proud grandmother to her five grandchildren.
Mrs. Warren is preceded in death by her mother; father; husbands Leslie
Warner Marchand (1960), Jack Walton Warren (1990); sisters Thelma Kyle,
Wanda Younger and brothers Hays Langston, John Langston and Howard Langston.
Mrs. Warren is survived by her son Scott Marchand (Alice) of Alexandria,
Virginia; her daughters Rebecca Marchand of Cheverly, Maryland and Beth
Turnage (Bryce) of Meridian, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Anna Marchand
of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Jonathan Marchand of Arlington, Virginia, Walton
Turnage, Grace Turnage and Laney Turnage of Meridian, Mississippi; two
sisters, Hazel Rutledge of Memphis, Tennessee and Dorothy Turner of Conway,
Arkansas; one brother, Boyce Langston of Phoenix, Arizona and many nieces,
nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Ridgecrest Cemetery on Tuesday, October
9 at 1:30pm arranged by Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations are made in her
name to Hospice Care Group, LLC, 114 E.
