Nile “Pete” Scott Kilgore, age 88, died Friday, April 21, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Born on Thursday, April 18, 1935, in Parrottsville, TN, he was the son of the late Ted and Ella Scott Kilgore.
Proudly serving his country in the United States Army for 2 years, he was stationed in Germany from 1958-1960. He worked for the FBI from 1955-1967 and for USPS from 1967-1990. Pete worked for the United States Government for a total of 36 years, serving under 5 presidents. His duty in the White House was delivering Presidential mail and was one of the very few entrusted to touch any Presidential mail.
Hobbies that he enjoyed included gardening, landscaping, woodworking, politics, John Deere tractors, family events, worship services and senior adult church trips.
Other than is parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Newell Kilgore and a sister, Norma Kilgore Jones.
Those left to cherish Pete’s memory are his beloved wife, Judy Marie Kilgore of Jackson, TN; son, Kevin Scott Kilgore of Jackson, TN; three nieces, Marsha Kilgore (Paul), Patricia Jenkins Nightingale (Brian), Karen Jenkins, and one nephew, Keith Kilgore (Debbie).
SERVICES: The Funeral Service for Pete will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. There will be a private burial.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 3:00 p.m.
