Mitchell Keith McGowan, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2023, at his Alamo, TN residence at the age of 60.
He was born on July 11, 1963, in Milan, Tennessee, the son of the late Delmar and Maudie Hammonds McGowan.
Mitchell devoted many years of his life as a traveling nurse, bringing comfort and care to countless patients. Most recently, he joined the medical team at Maplewood Healthcare and Rehab of Jackson, TN. His commitment to providing quality healthcare reflected his kind-hearted nature and genuine compassion for others.
His educational background was marked by his achievement of an associate degree from Union University. This solid foundation equipped Mitchell with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his career as a nurse.
In addition to his remarkable professional accomplishments, Mitchell served his country with distinction in both the United States Marine Corps as an Aircraft Pneumatic Mechanic Trainee and the United States Navy as a Field Medical Service Technician. His military service symbolized his unwavering patriotism and willingness to go above and beyond for the greater good.
Mitchell's proudest achievements were undoubtedly centered around his family. He leaves behind a loving wife, Kim Sommers McGowan of Alamo, Tennessee; a daughter, Sophia Grace McGowan; a son, Jacob Aubrey McGowan; and his siblings Stuart McGowan and his wife Shelia and their sons, Evan and Max of Medina, Tennessee; Delmar McGowan II of Milan, Tennessee; Tammy Morgan and her husband Ray of Dresden, Tennessee. He also had a close relationship with his father-in-law John Edward Sommers of Alamo, TN.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Peggy Sommers and a sister Dixie Travanthan
SERVICES: To honor Mitchell's memory and celebrate his life a graveside service will be held at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN on September 28th starting at 10:30 a.m.
The family will be receiving friends at Arrington Funeral Directors on September 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mitchell's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones and all those he touched throughout his life. His family, friends, colleagues, and patients will remember him for his empathy, kindness, and unwavering dedication to providing excellent care.
