Michael Lawrence Walker passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by family and friends at Maplewood Healthcare following a brief illness.
Mr. Walker was born on February 5, 1953 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was the son of Lawrence Edward Walker and Ernestine Pillow Walker, now deceased.
Mike graduated in 1971 from the former Jackson High School. He later attended the University of Tennessee at Martin. After college, Mike began working for Southern Supply in Jackson and later progressed into the are of industrial sales.
During his lifetime, Mike met people easily. One of his greatest attributes was that he was known as a devoted and loyal friend.
Mike enjoyed many happy times doing what he loved throughout his life. Among his favorite hobbies and activities were fishing, riding motorcycles, boating, scuba diving, and also skydiving.
One of Mike’s greatest gifts was his natural ability to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind stained glass artwork and windows. Many of his artistic works now grace the facades of numerous churches and private homes throughout the West Tennessee area. They are true treasures.
A lifelong resident of Jackson, Mike valued his family’s rich history, grounded in Madison County. His recall of family names, events, and dates was astounding.
Mike leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Shelby Kimberly Walker of Jackson, Tennessee; and his brother, Steve Edward Walker of Jackson, Tennessee. In addition to his daughter and brother, survivors include his first cousin, William Boren and his wife Nell of Yorktown, Virginia.
A special thank you to those friends and family members who have shown unwavering support of Mike during these past few months. We also wish to convey our profound gratitude to Mike’s caregivers, Karen and David Darnell, for their compassion and kindness.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
