Maurine Hammett Wilkins, 77, departed this life on February 29, 2012 at the Humboldt Nursing Home after an extended illness.Maurine was born at Hollow Rock, TN on May 21, 1934, the daughter of the late Roy Ila Hammett. She attended Hollow Rock-Bruceton Schools and graduated from Central High School. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church and was presently a member of Forest Heights United Methodist Church in Jackson. Maurine was employed by South Central Bell Telephone Company for thirty-six years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also an expert seamstress for many years.She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Eloise (Gene) Leafty of Payson, AZ in April 2011 and Jonnie (Kenneth) Meadows of Madison, VA in October 2011.She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Dunham of Collierville, TN; a sister, Juanita Hammett of Jackson, TN; a brother, William Roy Hammett of Dover, DE; two sister-in-laws, Gaynell Yarbro of Jackson, TN and LaQuida McKnight of Humboldt, TN and three grandchildren, Paige, Alex and Beth Dunham of Collierville, TN.The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the service to follow at 2:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
