Mary Smith GiddensFuneral services for Mary Smith Giddens, 67, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Russell Gourley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Giddens died on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her residence.Mrs. Giddens was born in Trumann, AR on June 26, 1942 the daughter of the late Elmer Russell and Tommie Melinda Radford Carpenter. She was a graduate of White Station High School in Memphis, TN and was retired as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. She also worked as a school bus driver in Henderson, TN for eighteen years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson, TN and the Bartlett Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Giddens enjoyed caring for others and canning food and jellies.She is survived by her husband, Jodie Lee Giddens of Jackson, TN; sons, Kenneth Wayne Hudson and wife Tammy of Memphis, TN and Jeffrey Paul Hudson and wife Elizabeth of Jonesboro, AR; step sons, Garry Hornsby of Pueblo, CO, Roger S. Hornsby of Nashville, TN and Randy R. Giddens of York, SC; brothers, Dale Carpenter of Memphis, TN and Bill Carpenter of Bartlett, TN; sisters, Helen White of Moulton, AL, Eleanor Hudson of Branson, MO, Betty Hudson of Medon, TN, Opal Oliver of Decatur, AL and Mildren Gourley of Oakland, TN; grandchildren Jessica and Shelby Hudson and step grandchildren, Christina Robinson, Jessie Robinson and Nicole Giddens.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Carpenter and Leon Carpenter and two sisters, Cathlene White and Tommline Carpenter.Nephews will serve as pallbearers for the service.
