Mary Etta Patterson Williams, 92, of Jackson passed away May 11, 2016.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 14 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson. Burial will follow at Belleview Cemetery in Bells, TN.
David Powell, minister at North Jackson Church of Christ, where Mrs. Williams was a long-time member, will conduct the service.
Mrs. Williams was born April 22, 1924, in Bells, TN to Otho and Jennie Patterson. She graduated from Bells High School and in 1944 married her high-school sweetheart, James Kendell Williams. Mary Etta and Kendell spent most of their working years in Paducah, KY, where Kendell worked at the Union Carbide nuclear plant. In 1991, they decided to return to West Tennessee and moved to Jackson.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Elizabeth Chisholm. She is survived by two children: a son, Jim Williams (Ann), Nashville, TN and a daughter, Alice Perkins, Montgomery, AL. She is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Ward, Memphis, TN and four brothers: Bill Patterson (Betty), Tulsa, OK; Bobby Patterson (Frankie), Cummings, GA; Joe Patterson (Helen), Canton, GA; and John Patterson (Jane), Kenner, LA. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the West Tennessee Children’s Home c/o North Jackson Church of Christ, 2780 highway 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Williams’ brothers and Paul Norris, Marc Wilson, Kevin Austin, David Beach, Lee Johnson and Randall Renfroe.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of North Jackson Church of Christ.
