Martha Frances Deaton

Martha F. Deaton, age 91, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Northbrooke Health Care and Rehab Center of Jackson.
She was born on February 15, 1924 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late J. Lowell and Ruth Davidson Harris. She was married in 1947 to Joseph E. Deaton who preceded her in death. Martha was a graduate of Jackson High School and West Tennessee Business College. She was also an avid participant in Jackson High School class reunions. Martha was the secretary at Allen and Edgewood Church of Christ for many years, as well as serving as a volunteer with Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing, especially for her granddaughters. She was a member of North Jackson Church of Christ.
Martha is survived by two sons, Dennis Deaton (Rose) of Franklin, TN and Chris Deaton (Shelia) of Jackson, TN; a sister, Mona Johnston of Corvallis, MT; three granddaughters, Heather Deaton, Rebecca Deaton Barnes and Rachel Deaton; and two great granddaughters, Eliza and Norah Barnes.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 5, 2015 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with David Powell, minister officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
