Memorial services for Martha (Bitsy) Banks Bell will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Humboldt, Tennessee, conducted by longtime friend and preacher, Bill Burks. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, Tennessee and from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the Parish Hall of the church preceding the service.
Bitsy was born June 9, 1915 to the late Anna (Lady) and Herbert Banks, and was a lifelong resident of Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clinton Bell, and two brothers, Charles and John Banks.
Bitsy is survived by two sons: Will Bell and wife, Denise of Jackson, Tennessee, and David Bell and wife, Gail of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Andrew Bell and wife Kassi; Allison Bell and husband Angelo Pochesci; Will Bell III, Baily Bell, Parker Bell, Palmer Bell and Hays Bell; three great grandchildren, Haiden Bell, David Pochesci and Francesco Pochesci.
Bitsy was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church and served as Treasurer of the ECW for many years. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She attended the University of Tennessee and was a member of Chi Omega. She served as Executive Director of the Humboldt Housing Authority for 25 years.
