Marjorie Price McCoy

November 9, 1934 — October 2, 2024

Jackson, TN

Marjorie Price McCoy, age 89, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, surrounded by love in the home of her daughter.

Born on November 9, 1934, in Lewisburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Garland and Geneva Billings Price. Marjorie lived a life full of warmth, joy, and a deep commitment to her family and friends.

She was a Cumberland Presbyterian by faith and was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Jackson. Marjorie loved her church and was very active for a number of years serving in a circle and card ministry. She also served her church family by keeping the children’s nursery for many-many years.

A loving and outgoing individual, Marjorie’s spirit was infectious. She had a profound love for her family, baking and preparing meals for her family, often seen in the kitchen, creating delicious treats that brought everyone together. Her hands were rarely still; Marjorie enjoyed knitting, engaging in crafts and artwork, and she loved playing games like Rook and Rummy, delighting in moments of laughter and competition with those she cherished.

A devoted sports enthusiast, she was particularly fond of Kentucky basketball, proudly cheering for her team and creating lasting memories around the television during game days. Her active engagement in the community was highlighted by her role as an Ambassador for Jackson Meadows during her nine years there, where she earned the endearing title of the “Card Lady" as she enjoyed playing cards weekly with fellow residents and being involved with the arts and crafts and many parties.

After her time at Jackson Meadows, Marjorie was a resident of the Cades Center of Humboldt for close to a year, where she touched many lives with her grace and positivity.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Garland and Geneva Billings Price, her loving and Cherished husband, Henry McCoy and her sister, Ann Hassell and her husband Phil.

She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Victoria Browning Hammond and her husband Jere, son, William Craig Browning, grandchildren, William Gower (Morgan), Stephen Gower (Grayson), Clayton Hughes, Cullen Hughes (Callan), Jay Hammond (Carla), Michael Hammond (Molly). Davion Browning, Marcus Browning, Mary Teuton (Jason), Geneva La Croix (Ken), Anna Browning, great-grandchildren, Victoria and Gretchen Gower, Zoe Pirtle, Taylor Grace, Stella, Savannah Gower, Archie Hughes, Olivia Robertson (Tyler), Kiley Gray (Jordan), Alex and Gabriel Patterson and one great-great grandchild, Tatum Robertson.
