Funeral services for Lora Acuff Tims, 92, will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 at Evangelical Community Church with Blake White officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Tims died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Maplewood Healthcare Center of Jackson. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.A native of Shelby County, TN, she was born one of seven children on September 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Leander and Evie Tillman Acuff. She was retired from Consolidated Aluminum and a member of Evangelical Community Church. Mrs. Tims had a teacher?s heart and was involved in the tutoring program of Urban Ministries through ECC. She loved her family and her church willing to serve those in need.She is survived by a sister, Blanche Galigher of Memphis, TN; five nieces, Susan Armour, Edith Pafford, Andi Acuff , Virginia Acuff and Edna Jean Acuff and three nephews, Rocky Acuff , Jackie Acuff and Mike DeNote.She was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Ann Hamilton, Roy Acuff, Jack Acuff, Lew Acuff and Jim Acuff.Pallbearers to serve will be Rocky Acuff, Tommy Rice, Jim Tomlinson, Fred Johnsey, Rob Binkley, John Curlin, Jim Diffee and John Crenshaw.Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Jackie Acuff, Mike DeNote, Joe Rowland, Christopher Rowland and Ferguson Armour.The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Tutoring Program of Urban Ministries of ECC, 730 Pipkin Road, Jackson, TN 38305.The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Evangelical Community Church.
