Lila McRae Nowakowski, 85, died peacefully on October 22, 2015. She was born on May 12, 1930 in Detroit Michigan. She was the daughter of the late James and Edna Melton. She and her late husband of fifty-three years, W. Cooper McRae, co-owned and operated McRae Engineering for thirty years. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. She and her husband traveled all over the country for five years before settling in San Benito, TX in 2000. She is survived by her husband Art Nowakowski of San Benito, TX; three daughters, Cindy Fisher and husband Bill of Jackson, TN, Fae Stovall and husband Neal of Senatobia, MS and Nancy Williams and husband Andrew of Germantown, TN; a sister, Blanche Donaho of Hot Springs, AR; nine grandchildren, Cory McRae, Jennifer Tachenko (Michael Paul), Julie Crider (Mark), Drew Williams (Brittany), Chris Williams (Amber), Tony Williams, Michelle Williams, Colin Stovall, Corbin Stovall; three great grandchildren, Keziah Tachenko, Reuel Tachenko, and Solomon Tachenko.
Pallbearers to serve will be grandsons, Cory McRae, Drew Williams, Chris Williams, Tony Williams, Corbin Stovall and grandson-in-law, Michael Paul Tachenko.
Honorary pallbearer is grandson Colin Stovall. The service will be conducted by grandson-in-law Mark Crider.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37220.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors. You are invited to join the family for a graveside service at 3:30 PM at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
