Leon Thomas Dyer, 80, died on Wednesday, November, 20, 2013 at his Jackson residence after a sudden illness.
A native of Jackson, he was born on November 19, 1933 the son of the late John Thomas and Ruby Elizabeth Smith Dyer. He was retired as a maintenance supervisor with Ormet, formerly Consolidated Aluminum of Jackson, with over twenty years of service. He was a member of Browns United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were members of the Upper Room Sunday school class. He was a mason and a member of St. John’s Lodge # 332. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and enjoyed participating in the Archaeological Society and researching genealogy.
Leon is survived by his wife, Roselyn Ross Dyer; his sons, Jim Dyer and wife Rhonda and Charlie Dyer and wife Sassene; a daughter, Sandra Presson and husband Ted all of Jackson, TN; six grandchildren, Russell Dyer, Katherine Dyer Webb and husband Doug, Matthew Presson and wife Jill, Sarah Presson, Bonnie Presson, William Dyer and Jay Boyd; three great grandchildren, Chloe Webb, Tanner Webb and Ryan Presson and a brother, Lyman Dyer of Huntsville, AL.
He was preceded by an infant daughter, Patricia Kay Dyer.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2013 at Browns United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven J. Callicoatt officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
