Larry Ross

Larry J. Ross Larry Joseph Ross, 62, of Jackson, TN, passed peacefully from the presence of his family on, April 13th and entered into his eternal reward with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Carroll County, a son to the late Ben Spelling Ross and Janie Louise Robinson Ross of Atwood, TN. He served his country for over 34 years through the Air Force and Tennessee Air National Guard, retiring in 2007 from the 164th Airlift Wing as a Chief Master Sergeant. From July 2002-July 2006 he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Tennessee Air National Guard as State Command Chief Master Sergeant. He was a trooper on the Tennessee Highway Patrol for over 20 years, serving in Memphis and in Jackson, TN as well as throughout the state with the Criminal Investigative Division and the Drug Interdiction Task Force. He was a long time member of Englewood Baptist Church, where he had the joy of serving faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on various committees. A recent highlight for the entire family was the glorious Easter Sunday service he was able to attend, celebrating the eternal life that is now his reality. After his retirement from Union University as Director of Safety & Security and Assistant Dean of Students, he worked as an investigator with Haney & Associates, LLC and with the Cold Case Unit of the Jackson Police Department. He is survived by his wife, Lanette Spain Ross, son Nathan Ross, daughter, Sheri Saldana, son-in-law, Manny Saldana, granddaughter, Isabella Cherise Saldana (?Baby Girl? to her Grand-dada), and his sisters Marjorie Vinson and Rebecca Pounds. His Homegoing services will be held in Jackson, TN at Englewood Baptist Church, Friday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ben Mandrell and Dr. Philip Jett officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood, TN. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 15th at Arrington Funeral Directors from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Englewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 2239 N.
