Kedy Curl, 79, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Regency Retirement Village. He was born September 7, 1934 in Garden City, AL the son of the late Luther and Lila Curl. Kedy was a longtime member of West Jackson Baptist Church and Forest Heights United Methodist Church. He worked in food sales throughout West Tennessee for 40 years. Kedy excelled at many sports and played minor league baseball for both the Cardinals and Orioles organizations. He played Industrial league basketball and softball and was a little league baseball coach and church league basketball coach for many years. He was inducted in 2007 to the Cullman County, AL Sports Hall of Fame. Kedy was always quick with a smile and eager to lend a hand.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Olive Ann Curl; a daughter, Cindy Ponce and husband Ricky of Gloucester, VA; two sons, John Curl and wife Minnette of Belmont, N.C. and Keith Curl and wife Charlotte of Bells, TN; two step sons, Glenn Greenwood and wife Mary of Colorado Springs, CO and Brent Greenwood and wife Melani of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren, Kristina Hubbard, Nathan Ponce, Adam Curl, Hannah Curl, Liam Curl, Josh Greenwood, Josh Emralino, Noah Greenwood, Bella Naylor and Olivia Greenwood and one great grandchild, Caleb Ponce.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edsel and Conrad and two sisters, Wanda and Nita.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday May 8, 2014 at Forest Height United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Russell Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday May 7, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
