Kathie Lee McIver, 61, died Sunday, June 03, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Madison, TN, after a brief illness. Kathie was born on January 13, 1951 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Dr. Harold T. McIver and Peggy Jean Taylor, who survives. She grew up in Jackson and attended local schools including Union University studying nursing. In 1972 she worked as a flight attendant in the third class of the new Southwest Airlines in Dallas. She later became a very talented floral designer in Memphis and Jackson as well as a Certified Wedding Planner. Kathie was a loving mother, grandmother, and a gourmet cook. She attended First Methodist Church of Jackson.She leaves her precious children, a son, Shea (Danielle) Pope of Spring Hill, TN, and two daughters, Heather (Tommy) Shaffer of Jackson and Lauren (Joe) Hensley of Louisville, KY; and six grandchildren, Kallie Gaither, Bryson Shaffer, Carson Pope, Caleb Pope, Savannah Pope, and Olivia Hensley. Also surviving are her two sisters, Pat (Larry) Alvey and Beth (Harry) Henry of Jackson and two brothers Hal (Linda) McIver, Jr. of Jackson and Mike (Renee) McIver of Germantown, TN, and ten nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203 or St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.A memorial service and celebration of Kathie?s life is planned for Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. A visitation with the family will be held immediately following the service.
