Josie Dale Kease Johnson, 92, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully on April 5, 2017.
Dale was born February 27, 1925 to Clyde E. Keas and Olivia Cavitt Kease. She was educated in the Jackson public school system and attended Union University. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Billy Johnson. They were married on October 25, 1946 in Jackson, TN. Together they raised four children. Bill Jr (Pamela), Jim (Cathy), Sammy (Lisa), and Mary Ann Adams (Ron). Grandmother was loved by her nine grandchildren Stephanie (Mike) Eason, Jennifer Bryant, Brian Johnson, Adam (Catherine) Johnson, Galon (Kiriane) Johnson, Margaret (Danny) Scroggin, Hunter Johnson, Rachel Adams, and Olivia Johnson and her ten great grandchildren. Dale was a dedicated homemaker and proudly described herself as a ‘native Jacksonian.’
Dale was saved when she was nine years old at Calvary Baptist Church, her childhood church home. She was a long-time member of West Jackson Baptist Church and spent much of her life happily serving the church community. Dale will be remembered as a Sunday school teacher, WMU member, and church goer. She was a founding member of the Dorcas home demonstration club. In addition to her many church activities, she enjoyed sewing for many years. She lovingly made more than 100 baby quilts for friends and family.
The family would like to sincerely thank the family of caregivers at Alexandria Place. Dale called Alexandria Place her home for four years.
Visitation will be held at Arrington Funeral Directors,148 W. University Parkway,38305, from 1-3pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017 with a service to follow at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
