Joseph Rumshas, 92, of Medina, TN, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Northbrooke Healthcare Center. A private service was held.
A native of Chicago, IL, he was born on June 18, 1922, the son of Joseph and Antoinette Gacioiti Rumshas. He served in World War II in the Pacific as a truck driver for his unit. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He retired from E.W. Kneip as a meat/bone cutter after 25 years of service.
He lived most of his life in Addison, IL, before moving to Medina, TN. He was the handy man of the neighborhood and could be called on to help fix minor household problems. He had a love of bowling and had many trophies to show for his efforts.
His wife of 65 years, Christina Tina Margareties, preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter, Antoinette Susie (Ladwig) McKelvy and husband James of Medina, TN; a son, Charles J. Rumshas and wife Janet of Lisle, IL; grandchildren, Robert J. Ladwig, Charles S. Rumshas, Dennis O. Rumshas, Andrew J. Rumshas and Jessica M. Rumshas all of the Chicago, IL area and sisters Rose Peterson of Lowa and Antoinette Goodman of California.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
