John Thomas Griffin

Funeral services for John Thomas Griffin, 76, will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday August 18, 2013 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Don Thrasher officiating. Mr. Griffin died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital. He was born September 20, 1936 in Rocky Mount, N.C. the son of the late Richard and Fidelia Griffin. John was a graduate of Duke University and was retired from Norandal USA. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Martha T. Griffin; sons, John T. Griffin Jr. and wife Brenda of Winston Salem, N.C., G. Scott Griffin of Winston Salem, N.C. and Tony O. Griffin and wife Alisa of Greensboro, N.C.; a step daughter, Kimberly Larkins and husband Randy of Jackson, TN; brother, James A. Griffin and wife Patsy of Winston Salem, N.C.; sisters, Nell Davenport of Rocky Mount, N.C., Ruth Williams of Boone, N.C., Marjorie Ramsey of Rocky Mount, N.C., Faye Morgan and husband Tommy of Memphis, TN, Rebecca Pittman and husband Jerry of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Charlotte Ahalt and husband Tom of Leesburg, VA; six grandchildren, Jeremy Griffin, Jordan Griffin, Nathan Griffin, Kate Larkins, Brady Larkins and Starr Allen. John was preceded in death by his brothers Dick Griffin and Bill Griffin and grandson Cody Griffin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Northside United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
