John Charles Cathey

Mr. John C. Cathey, age 81, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Madison County, TN the son of Chauncey and Ruby Cotner-Poindexter Cathey. He worked as a Salesman for Jackson Restaurant Supply for 14 years and was retired from Hardin-Sysco. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and loved fishing, woodworking, boating, taking care of livestock, and cherished his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Russell Cathey of Beech Bluff, TN; two sons, John Cathey of Beech Bluff, TN and Adam (Kayla) Cathey of Beech Bluff, TN; one daughter, Teresa (Tony) Harston of Jackson, TN; one sister, Layla Armour of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers to serve are: Glenn Jackson, Don Russell, Tyrone Smith, Steve Ross, Buddy Cox, and Jay Holmes.

SERVICES: the family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Arrington Funeral Directors with a funeral service following at 1:00 P.M. in the Arrington Chapel with Bro. Brent McMinn officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
