JoAnn McAdams Wagner, age 90, of Jackson, Tennessee passed away on December 1, 2022. She was a faithful Christian and a proud mother and grandmother.
She was born to the late Annie Mae and Erwin McAdams in Chester County, Tennessee on May 31, 1932. She attended Freed Hardeman College, Memphis State, and Union University. She graduated with a degree in education.
JoAnn was known for her crafting and needlework skills along with always being late. She was recognized by her nieces and nephews for baking delicious chocolate chip cookies. One thing many people did not know about her, nor did she for most of her life, was that the actual name printed on her birth certificate was Bettie Joe McAdams. From 1972 to 1990 she owned and managed American Handicrafts. It was there that she taught many classes and developed many friendships.
She is survived by her two children, Kathryn Hopkins (Phil) and David Wagner (Gay Carole) and her four grandchildren, Rebecca Newman (Jobe), Andrew Hopkins, Chris Wagner, and Leah Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul McAdams, and her three sisters, Virginia Enoch, Martha Rubenstein, and Jean Smith.
JoAnn lived in Jackson, Tennessee for most of her life where she was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She resided in Dyersburg, Tennessee for two years and while there she was a member of First United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, Tennessee on Monday, December 5, 2022, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
