Jimmy Dale Johnson, age 80, died on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his residence.
Jimmy was born on July 28, 1936, the son of the late Sadie Gatley Johnson. He was raised in the Westover Community attending the Westover Grammar School and Northside High School. He began his career in Sales and Delivery in 1960, a career that spanned fifty-seven years, retiring in 1993 from Turner Dairy. He enjoyed the outdoors as an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of North Jackson Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy Joyner Johnson of Jackson, TN; his son David Johnson and wife Debbie of Independence, MO; his daughter, Janet Howell and husband Blain of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Amber Dale Clayton and husband Adam, Amy Sharon and husband Josh, Garrett Howell and wife Stephanie and Cassandra Whitaker and husband Ben and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Elsie Mae Johnson Pratt.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at North Jackson Church of Christ with David Powell and Josh Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Friendship, TN.
Pallbearers to serve will be Scott Dalhstrom, John Taylor, Paul Anderson, Glynn Carder, John Brown and Chris Morris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Way and the Elders of North Jackson Church of Christ.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at North Jackson Church of Christ prior to the service.
