Jerry W. Williams, age 83, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, August 28, 2022, with his loving wife by his side.
A native of Humboldt, TN, he was born on December 25, 1938, the son of the late Lonnie and Cola Lee Davenport Williams. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson, where he was in the church choir and the Faith Sunday School class.
Jerry was the starting quarterback for the Humboldt Vikings in high school, graduating in 1958. He worked at Ormet Aluminum of Jackson, holding various positions before retiring as an Oiler. One of the many pleasures Jerry enjoyed was his weekly volunteering at Kirkland Cancer Center. He especially loved being there during the Christmas season, bringing joy to the many patients and their families as “Jingles the Elf.” Known for loving his yard, he kept it well-manicured, even helping members of his neighborhood by cutting their yards and any other needs they might have. He enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns, the University of Tennessee football and especially Ms. Freida Kay’s cooking.
Those surviving to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Freida Kay Williams of Jackson, TN; two daughters, Allison Williams Burns and husband Russ of Nashville, TN and Kelly Williams Ruff and husband Gary of Mt. Juliet, TN; two sons, Chris Powell and wife Sharon of Kihei, HI and Craig Powell of Houston, TX, and three grandchildren, Austin Powell, Tyler Burns and Parker Powell.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Williams Vailes; two grandchildren, Connor Powell and Katie Powell, and his former wife, Alice Simmons Parker.
