Jerry R. Hensley

It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Ray Hensley announce his passing on April 13, 2021. Jerry was born August 16,1946 in Hohenwald, TN, the son of  G.A and Lola Vaughn Hensley.
After earning a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Jerry worked for Ciba-Geigy (which later became Syngenta) in agricultural research. He retired from Syngenta as the Western Regional Research Manager.  After retiring from Syngenta, he worked for a short time for AgraQuest in Davis, CA before moving back to Jackson, TN. Jerry was the U.S. Research Manager for Agriguard until he suffered a stroke in 2012. Unfortunately, he experienced long-term debilitating effects from his stroke.  During his life, Jerry enjoyed many hobbies including photography, sailing, golfing and attending baseball games with friends and family. He was a loving husband and father who will be deeply missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott of Nashville, TN. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Leeds Hensley; two sons, Jerry Ray, ll of Jackson, TN and Justin Aaron (Ami) of Mountain View, CA; four granddaughters and two grandsons, Emily Hensley of Beach Bluff, TN, Kassidy Hensley of Dyersburg, TN, Karsyn Hensley of Jackson, TN, Maya Rajan and Bodhi Hensley of Mountain View, CA; and two great grandchildren, Josslyn Hensley and Paxton Hensley of Beech Bluff, TN.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday May 15, 2021 at 11AM at Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W. University Parkway, Jackson, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Jerry’s honor be directed to Stanford University, Gift Processing, P.O. Box 20466, Stanford, CA 94309.  Please include that it is for “post stroke injury research”.
