Funeral services for Jerry L. Barrix, 72, will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 11:00AM from the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, TN. Mr. Barrix died Friday evening, May 27, 2011 at Henry County Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1938 in Humboldt, TN, the son of the late Clarence and Mary Frances Luckey Barrix. He was President of Wade Electric Company for 39 years and very active in community and professional organizations. He served as President of the Greater Gibson County Chamber, President of Pinecrest Country Club, Board of Directors of the Mid Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors, Board of Directors of the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, TN, Past Exalted Ruler Trenton Elks Lodge 1279, Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, he was active in the Job Service Employer Committee, serving as Gibson/Crockett Chairman, State Vice Chairman, and State President. He served on the Community Boards of Directors of Volunteer Bank (now BANKCORPSOUTH) and Adolescent Residential Treatment Centers. Most recently Jerry was a member of the Board of Directors of Associated Builders and Contractors Self Insured Fund, Board of Directors for Dyersburg State Community College, Board of Directors of The Breaker Owner?s Association at Paris Landing, TN and currently Chairman of the Board of Wade Electric Company. He loved to spend time with family, Tennessee sports, especially Volunteer football, boating and politics. Jerry is survived by his wife Phyllis Wade Barrix, of Jackson, TN, one son Jerry Wade Barrix and wife Dawn of Jackson, TN, one daughter Renee Barrix Shafer and husband Michael of Atlanta, GA, one sister Barbara Langford and husband James of Knoxville, TN, five grandchildren, Weston Barrix, Samantha Shafer, Ryan Shafer, Charles Dawson, Chris Dawson, and five great grandchildren. Those serving as pallbearers will be Randy Cooper, Johnny Robinson, Tim Luckey, Weston Barrix, Irvin Cooper, and Wade Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Markham, Jim Thompson, Lee Godfrey, Jack Hall, Charles Hill, Bob Pitts, and Art Sparks. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Church St., Jackson, TN 38301, First United Methodist Church, 500 S. College St., Trenton, TN 38382, or Oakland Cemetery, c/o City of Trenton, 309 S. College St., Trenton, TN 38382. The family will be receiving friends Monday, May 30, 2011 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
